Had a great conversation with my Personal Learning Network (aka Twitter) about a comment the President made. President Obama suggested that parents and community take responsibility for schools.
I asked how parents could or should be held responsible for schools. What would it look like? How might parents share in the responsibility for schools?
The point I continually struggled with was accountability. If I am accountable as a member of a school district, how would a parent be held responsible? A difficult question to answer.
Heidi Hass Gable (@HHG) shared this amazing video that she created on how parents and teacher might come together to see their common purpose. You can also see a summary of the conversation we had on Twitter here. How will parents and community be held responsible for school improvement?
This video should be watched by every parent and by every teacher. Teachers and parents both have the same purpose. To do what's best for kids. It is a call to action for parents and teachers to work together.
