I appreciate the "pull" aspect of NLC for self-organizing communities. Often in the past our models in collaborative learning has replied on a leader or mentor organizing and inviting others to join rather than creating the energy for Serendipity to pull us together.

Charles, I think you make an excellent point. The true power is the "serendipity" of pull--not having to rely on a leader to bring others into the learning. However, being proactive can create "pull" when done socially.
